Welcome to Chayan Store. To grow morning glory (Ipomoea) from seeds to flowering plants, begin by choosing high-quality seeds of your preferred variety and scarify them by nicking the seed coat with a file or soaking them in warm water overnight to speed up germination. Sow seeds about ½ inch deep in seed trays or directly outdoors after the last frost, as they thrive in warm conditions (18-25°C or 65-77°F). Ensure the soil is well-draining, moderately fertile, and slightly acidic to neutral (pH 6.0-7.0). Choose a sunny location, as morning glories need full sun to bloom profusely. Once seedlings are a few inches tall and have at least two sets of true leaves, thin or transplant them about 6-12 inches apart and provide a sturdy trellis, fence, or arbor for the vines to climb. Water regularly, especially in dry periods, but avoid overwatering. Fertilize lightly with a low-nitrogen fertilizer to encourage flowers rather than excessive foliage. Morning glories will begin to bloom in about 8-10 weeks from sowing, producing trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of blue, purple, pink, or white that open in the morning and close by afternoon. Deadheading is not necessary, as they bloom continuously, and once established, they often self-seed for the following season.
