Nagkesar or Mesua ferrea is an evergreen tree that grows in the tropical regions of Cambodia, Mynamar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and India. Known as the Steel Wood tree, it has the hardest bark of all trees in the world. Different parts of the tree, including leaves, flowers and seed oil are used for different medicinal purposes. The expectorant and anti-bacterial properties of Nagkesar help treat the symptoms of cold and cough. It removes congestion, soothes throat and reduces uneasiness.
