About the Book : The book is the product of extensive study of the Gujarati language in the pursuit of making it easy to learn and easy to understand. The series of simplified grammars to which the present volume belongs is too well known to make it necessary for author to say much now in the way of the book. It belongs, like the Marathi, Hindi, Panjabi, Oriya, and many other Indian dialects, to the Aryan family, being as daughter of the Sanskrit. Its closest affinities are with the Western Punjabi on the one side, and the Braj Bhasha, an old form of Hindi, on the other. The author may study earlier works on this subject to borrow a few useful hints but he has not followed any of these works in a servile spirit. He believes that the transliteration system employed in the grammar is an exact one, so that no confusion can arise from the use of English letters to represent Gujarati words. Towards that direction this book is beneficial to learn the language easily. About the Author:- William St. Clair Tisdall (1859–1928) was a British Anglican priest, linguist, historian and philologist who served as the Secretary of the Church of England's Missionary Society in Isfahan, Persia. He was fluent in several Middle Eastern languages, including Arabic, and spent much time researching the sources of Islam and the Qur'an in the original languages.
