Crossandra infundibuliformis, commonly known as the firecracker flower, is a tropical evergreen shrub native to South India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, as well as parts of Africa. It grows about 2 feet tall and wide both indoors and outdoors. The plant’s most notable feature is its continuous blooming, which sends spear-shaped spikes above its glossy, deep-green foliage in mild, warm weather. These spikes produce fan-shaped flowers with three to five asymmetrical petals that range in color from orange to coral and even yellow.
Firecracker flowers are popular for their ability to attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies. They thrive in humid environments and prefer partial sunlight for at least four hours daily when growing outside. When grown indoors, they require bright indirect sunlight. Crossandra prefers moist but not soggy soil with good drainage and a slightly acidic pH (5.8 to 6.5).

Avoid letting the temperature drop below 55°F (13°C) or exposing it to frost. Prune spent flower spikes to encourage new growth and pinch back flowers after they bloom to encourage additional blooms.
Crossandra can be propagated through stem cuttings taken in the spring or from seeds started at any time when g
