Scarify the Seeds :
Lotus seeds have a hard outer shell, so you’ll need to scarify them. Use a file or sandpaper to gently rub one end of the seed until you see the whitish inner layer. Be careful not to overdo it, as too much exposure might damage the seed.
Soak the Seeds :
After scarifying, place the seeds in a clear container filled with clean, warm water (around 25°C/77°F). Ensure the container is placed somewhere with ample light but no direct sunlight at this stage.
Daily Water Change :
Change the water every day to prevent stagnation and to keep the environment clean. In a few days (typically within 3-7 days), you should see the seeds begin to swell and sprout. Continue keeping the seeds submerged in fresh water.
Wait for Sprouting :
Within 1 to 2 weeks, you will notice the seeds sprouting, and small roots and shoots will begin to form. Keep the water clean and ensure the temperature is consistent to encourage healthy growth.
Transplanting to Water :
Once the plantlets grow a few leaves and roots (usually after 4-6 weeks), you can transfer them to a larger water container, such as a pond or a wide water-filled container. At this stage, they can float on the surface of the water. You don’t need to use soil or fertilizer for this phase.
Maintaining the Lotus :
Keep the container in full sunlight, as lotus plants thrive in warm temperatures and need at least 6 hours of sunl
