Rain is a must read for a variety of reasons. It covers the basics of a great read - a gripping story, interesting characters, vivid descriptions, and a grand finale. However, what really has me recommend this book is the experience I went through while reading it. It's a 200 page novel and it took me 3 weeks to read. I would start reading and in a bit come across a character, situation, or circumstances which I could totally relate to. It was as if the author knew my entire life story and was portraying it in fiction. I would stop and engage with my memories and then come back again. Then there was the vividity to "deal" with. I would ready a paragraph and it is so beautifully that I would read it again. My brain wanted me to run through the book so that I find out the "story" while my heart wanted me to slow down - relish each word, each paragraph, each page like having a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Then there is the other reason to read this book - this is the kind of literature that is worth supporting and promoting. Once you read the book, you will agree with me that we need more literature like this - a purposeful novel that is not too heavy on the neurons but still conveys a strong message.
