Thunbergia grandiflora, commonly known as Blue Thunbergia or Skyflower, is a flowering plant species in the family Acanthaceae. It is native to India and the region of Indomalaya, but has been introduced to other parts of the world where it is often considered an invasive species.
Plant Description :
Blue Thunbergia is a vigorous, evergreen vine that can reach lengths of up to 20 meters. The stems are woody at the base and become more herbaceous and twining higher up. The leaves are opposite, heart-shaped or ovate, with entire or slightly toothed margins. They are dark green on top and pale green underneath.
Flowers :
The flowers of Thunbergia grandiflora are its most striking feature. They are large, tubular, and sky blue in color, although there is also a white-flowered variety.
