Uricant DEF is based on SCR (Selective Catalyst Reduction), a post treatment technology that treats exhaust gases downstream of the engine. Composed of 32.5% pure urea, a small quantity of Uricant DEF is injected into the exhaust upstream of a catalyst, where it vaporizes and decomposes to form ammonia and carbon dioxide. The ammonia is the desired product which in conjunction to the SCR

catalyst, converts the NOx emissions into harmless nitrogen (N) and water (H2O).
