A robotic hand converts human motions into mechanical movements by combining precise hardware and clever software. The hardware consists of high-torque servos (MG996R) for stronger joints and micro servos (SG90/XSG90) for finer movements. It is all coordinated by an ESP8266 microcontroller that runs PWM control routines and a bespoke PCB, and it is fuelled by a steady 5 V supply. An ESP8266-hosted web server (using HTTP or WebSocket protocols) receives these commands and actuates the servos in real time. The software stack consists of an OpenCV-based hand-recognition and pattern-matching program (often leveraging Mediapipe or keypoint descriptors) that runs on a PC to interpret gestures and map them to specific finger positions. These parts work together to provide a closed loop that allows for responsive, web-accessible control of the robotic hand. This loop includes camera acquisition, gesture analysis, network transmission of orders, and precise servo positioning.
