He did theatre for 10 years in Jaipur and wrote and directed dramas. He started songs and ghazal writing in college. His ghazals have been sung by famous singers such as Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Bhupendra Singh, Raj Kumar Rizvi, and Chhaya Ganguli. He joined All India Radio in 1980 and then retired as the station director of AIR's 'Vividh Bharati Seva'.
