Urea is a plant metabolite that is used as a nitrogen fertilizer in agriculture. It is a crucial nutrient for plant growth, with a nitrogen concentration of around 46%. Urea is responsible for plant growth and gives them a lush and leafy appearance. It also aids the photosynthesis process of plants.
Urea is derived from root uptake or from catabolism of arginine by arginase. When added to the soil, urea is hydrolyzed, becoming ammonium carbonate and then ammonium ions, which are easily absorbed by plant roots. Plants need absorbed nitrogen to make proteins, enzymes, chlorophyll, and other vital substances.
Urea is primarily used for bloom growth because it can only provide nitrogen and not phosphorus or potassium. It should be applied 4 to 8 days during the key period.
The main function of Urea fertilizer is to provide the plants with nitrogen to promote green leafy growth and make the plants look lush. Urea also aids the photosynthesis process of plants. Since urea fertilizer can provide only nitrogen and not phosphorus or potassium, it's primarily used for bloom growth.
Avoid direct contact with the plant's leaves to prevent burning. Incorporate the Fertilizer : After applying the urea fertilizer, lightly incorporate it into the soil using a rake or a garden fork. This helps prevent the loss of nitrogen through volatilization and promotes better nutrient uptake by the plant
