*La Rue-des-Bois* (The Street of the Woods) (1908)- In 1908, he travelled to La Rue-des-Bois, a little French village 65 kilometres north of Paris, with Fernande. The environment is extremely forested, with trees dominating the scene. Picasso quickly embraced this and created a series of forested landscape pieces that perfectly depict the atmosphere of the location. However, the pieces also pay homage to Paul Cezanne, a French painter. The landscapes Picasso created in La Rue-des-Bois, on the other hand, unmistakably bear a debt to Cezanne, as evidenced by Landscape's boldly Cezannesgue forms and colours. ******** PABLO PICASSO (1881-1973) is universally renowned as one of the most influential and celebrated artists of the twentieth century; in terms of art, and art movements that occurred over this period.
