*** Shakuntala (1880) : 'Shakuntala' is one of the 'Uttam Nayika' of Raja Ravi Varma, and he painted 'Shakuntala' in so many poses. Many of those art pieces fetched glory & fame for him. Shakuntala was an important character from 'Mahabharat' and she was in love with King Dushyant. Here, Ravi Varma shows her facial expressions, while she wears beautiful flower ornaments, and is in deep thoughts, might be of her lover, Dushyant. She was the mother of Mahabharatiy Emperor, King Bharat. ******** Raja Ravi Varma (1848-1906) is thought-about among the best painters within the history of Indian art for variety of aesthetic and broader social reasons.
