*Woman with Pears* (1909)- This is one of several portraits Picasso painted of his companion, Fernande Olivier, during their stay in Picasso's native Spain in the summer of 1909. Picasso dramatically redesigned Olivier's head and bust, fragmenting them into geometrical fragments, while the pears in the backdrop are fashioned in the round.
