Ethylene glycol monostearate. Acts as a pearlescing agent for intense, controlled, stable in shampoos and liquid soaps. It is also used as a emulsion stabilizer and bodying agent in these systems. When used in creams and lotions, it imparts a soft as well as smooth skin feel.

Depending on how much is used, it can turn a transparent product into a pearl product. It will also help stabilize surfactant systems, and provide body and thickness.

It acts as a surfactant in many hair cr products, as it helps to reduce the surface tension between 2 liquids i.e oil and water. The surfactant has bipolar ends, hydrophilic end which combines with the water molecules and the lipophilic end with binds with oil and dirt found on the surface of your strands, thus helps in easily getting rid of dirt and oil from your scalp, hair while washing.
