Chamaedorea elegans, commonly called parlor palm or neanthe palm, is a small, compact, usually single-trunked palm that is native to rainforests from southeastern Mexico to northern Guatemala. Where winter hardy, it will rise to 5-6' tall in shady areas of the landscape.

Appearance : It has bright green, feathery fronds that arch gracefully. The leaves are divided into numerous leaflets that grow on slender stalks. The plant grows in clumps with multiple shoots emerging from the base.

Size : As a houseplant, it typically grows to 2-6 feet tall with a spread of 2-3 feet. In its natural habitat, it can grow up to 16 feet tall.

Light : It prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water : Water the plant moderately, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Humidity : It prefers moderate to high humidity. If the air is dry, you can increase the humidity around the plant by misting it regularly or placing it on a pebble tray filled with water.
