Okra, commonly known lady's finger or Bhindi in India, is a seasonal plant which belongs to the melon family and has beautiful flowers. The vegetable can be cooked and consumed in different ways. It is rich in vitamin C, vitamin K and vitamin A along with calcium and fiber. Start by growing Lady Finger seeds indoors in pots and transplant them when the weather warms up. However, if you live in warmer climates then you can directly plant them outdoors. Okra thrives in full-heat sun, place the plant in a spot that receives 5-6 hours of sunlight or else it won’t produce much fruit. Follow one simple rule - the hotter, the better.
