Pot size : Container size should be between 8”-12” depending on the sizes of the plants. Reporting should be done only if the roots come out from the container.
Soil mix : Hibiscus can be grown in ordinary garden soil. However the best potting mix will be of 50% garden soil, 20% Vermi Compost, 10% Sand, 15% Coco Peat and rest 5% (Super Phosphate, Potash, Neem cake, Horn meal/ bone dust). Always make sure that your growing hibiscus plant has excellent drainage.
Sunlight and temperature : At least six hours of sunlight, especially if you want to see lovely blooms. Please remember that hibiscus flowers blooms best in temperatures between 60-90 F. (16-32 0C) and cannot tolerate temps below (32 F-00C.).
Watering : It requires large amounts of water in their blooming stage. Your hibiscus will need daily watering in warm weather. However once the weather cools, your hibiscus needs far less water, and too much watering can kill it. In the winter, water your hibiscus only when the soil is dry to the touch.
Fertilizer : Hibiscus requires good amount of fertilizers. Both organic and chemical fertilizers may be used. In the summer, use a high potassium fertilizer. Best mixed fertilizer will be like super phosphate, potash, horn meal / bone meal, mustard cake and neem cake in appropriate proportions. It is advised to use magnesium sulfate twice a month or any other micro nutrients.
