This turmeric (Pahadi Haldi) is directly sourced from the farmers cultivating on the foothills of the Himalayas at an altitude of around 7000ft above sea level, in the Uttarakhand region. It is organically grown using indigenous traditional methods, sundried and ground using Gharat/Pun-Chakki (watermill). Gharat is an ancient technology followed by our ancestors that used river water stream as the source of energy to function without affecting the environment adversely and above all prevents over-heating of the spice, preserving its natural essential oils in the process. After cleaning the raw turmeric harvested from the land, they are boiled and kept in the sun for 5 to 7 days and are then rubbed by hands and grounded by the village women.
