Kamayani is an epic in the Hindi language. Its author is Jaishankar Prasad. It is the best and representative Hindi epic of the modern Chhayavadi era. This last poetic work of 'Prasad' ji was published in 1936 AD. Jaishankar Prasad was born on 30 January 1889 in Sarai Govardhan in Kashi. He received his early education in Kashi itself and later he studied Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu and Persian at his home. He was honored with the titles of poet, playwright and novelist. He died of tuberculosis in Kashi on November 15, 1937. Through the epic Kamayani, Prasad has highlighted the Vedic stories of Manu and Shraddha, who were the first man and woman to survive the deluge that ended the world.
