Jambolan is a fast-growing, attractive, compact, evergreen shrub or tree with a dense, frondose crown. It usually grows 10 - 15 metres tall, but can reach a height of up to 35 metres. The straight bole is short, stout, and low branched, usually around 40 - 100cm in diameter.A plant of the tropics and subtropics, where it is found at elevations up to 2,000 metres.It grows best in areas where annual daytime temperatures are within the range 20 - 32°c, but can tolerate 12 - 48°c.
