The legend begins with the Mahabharata. Barbarika alias Khatu Shyamji or Shyam Baba was a grandson of the brave prince, Bhima, second of the Pandava brothers. He was the son of Ghatotkacha, sired by Bhima through one of his wives, Jagadamba.
