Leaves : The leaves are compound, made up of 4 to 8 pairs of leaflets. They are leathery, dark green on the upper surface, and lighter green on the underside. Each leaflet is lance-shaped, about 4 to 6 inches long.

Flowers : Litchi flowers are small, greenish-white, or yellow, appearing in panicle-shaped clusters at the ends of branches. The flowers are fragrant but do not have petals. Flowering occurs in late winter or early spring.

Fruit : The litchi fruit is a round to oval drupe, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, with a rough, textured, red or pinkish peel. Inside, the fruit has translucent, juicy flesh (aril), which is sweet and fragrant. The fruit contains a single large, shiny brown seed in the center.
