Pallankuzhi is an age-old Indian game

famous in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

even though it sounds like an indoor

game, it boosts mind calculation

hand-eye coordination, and increases

patience. pallankuzhi also helps in

counting skills, strategy planning,

memory skills, observation skills,

math and motor skills

How to play pallankuzhi?

● The board has 14 holes, 7 holes on

each side. 5 shells are placed in each

cup.

1. The first player picks up the

shells from any of their holes

and starts moving

anti-clockwise, placing one

shell in each hole

2. When the player drops their

last shell he/she takes the

shells from the next cup and

continues placing them in the

next cup

3. If the last shell falls into a cup

with an empty cup following it

the shell in the cup following

the empty cup, is captured by

the player

4. The player then continues

play from the next cup

containing shells if the last

shell falls into a cup with two

empty holes beyond, captures

no shells and their turn is over

5. The next player continues to

play in the same way
