It also helps in the removal of sun tan and dullness because of its cooling properties Pterocarpus santalinus, with the common names red sanders, red saunders, red sandalwood, Rakt Chandan, and saunderswood, is a species of Pterocarpus endemic to the southern Eastern Ghats mountain range of South India This tree is valued for the rich red colour of its wood. The wood is not aromatic. The tree is not to be confused with the aromatic Santalum sandalwood trees that grow natively in South India.It is mostly found in southern Andhra Pradesh (India) with sporadic presence in some of the adjoining areas of Tamil Nadu (Chennai) and Karnataka Sandalwood is considered sacred to be used as Tilak for our deities. Its powder form can be used in hawan or other rituals.Use red sandalwood powder along with curd and milk to improve uneven skin tone. Mix 1 tablespoon of red sandalwood powder, half tablespoon of turmeric, 2 tablespoon of curd and milk each to make a face pack. Apply this all over and let it dry. Later wash it off with lukewarm water and enjoy radiant complexion.
