Its profuse flowering makes them ideal for bedding and they are also a winner for long-lasting cut flowers. Deadheading is important for encouraging more blooms and pinching if one desires a bushy Chrysanthemum.
Pinching is recommended for large flower bulbs. Soil should be kept moist, but not overwatering, which can lead to root diseases.
HOW TO GROW
• Chrysanthemum Carinatum flowers can be easily grown in pots.
•Ideal Temperature - 20° to 25°C.
•Sowing Time - September to October.
•Start by making a mixture of 40% cocopeat, 40% garden soil, and 20% compost.
•Place the seeds on the top of the soil and spread 1/4 - 1/2 inches layer of soil over it. Gently press to stabilise the placement of seeds.
•Mist the soil daily to keep it moist until the seeds germinate.
•Germination time - 10 to 20 days
•After approx. 30 days or when the plants are 3-4 inches long, they are ready to be transplanted.
•In a mixture of 40%garden soil, 40% compost, and 20% cocopeat and place 2 to 3 plants in a pot but that completely depends on your pot size.
•Keep under shade for 5 to 7 days.
•Afterwards keep in sunlight for 6 -7 hours to bloom more flowers.
•After 40 days of transplantation add fertiliser in a gap of a minimum of 20 days.
• Cow manure, bone meal, mustard cake, and fish meal. Any of these fertilisers can be used.
•It takes a minimum of 90 days to reach its full bloom potential.
