About the Book : - The Chahar Maqala is the interest of its contents for it contains the only contemporary account of Umar Khayyam and the oldest known account of Firdawsi, while many of the anecdotes are derived from the author’s own experience, or were orally communicated to him by persons who had direct knowledge of the facts. About the Author:-Edward Granville Browne (1862 –1926) was a British Iranologist. He published numerous articles and books, mainly in the areas of history and literature. Browne published in areas which few other Western scholars had explored. Many of his publications are related to Iran, either in the fields of history or Persian literature. He is perhaps best known for his documentation and historical narratives of Bábism as relayed by Arthur de Gobineau.
