SCABISIN contains Gamma benzene hexachloride also known as lindane. It is the gamma isomer hexachlorocyclohexane and acts as an anti scabies agent.

MECHANISM OF ACTION :  

SCABISIN is an organochloride insecticide that exerts its parasiticidal effect by being directly absorbed into the parasite (primarily lice or scabies) and their ova. Blockage of the GABA-gated chloride channel reduces neuronal inhibition, which leads to hyperexcitation of the central nervous system, resulting in convulsions and death.

INDICATIONS :  

For the treatment of infestations with scabies (itch), head lice (pediculosis capitis), crab lice (Phthirus pubis).

CONTRAINDICATIONS :  

Very young infants, patients with extensively excoriated skin, patients hypersensitive to gamma benzene hexachloride.

SIDE EFFECTS :  

Burning sensations, itching, dryness and rash.

WARNING :  

Total body application can be dangerous. It should be used with caution, especially in children.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE :  

SCABIES (ITCH) : Apply SCABISIN over the affected area of the body. Leave the application for 12 hours (or overnight) and take a bath. Repeat the treatment 3-4 times at an interval of 24 hours. SCABISIN should not enter the mouth or eyes.
