The Gel system is compact and easy to use. The cartridge containing the insecticide is to be fitted to the specially designed bait gun, which facilitates precision dosing and at every shot 0.03 gm of Fipronil Gel is released. It is important to identify the cockroach species because this influence the spot size of the Gel. For smaller sized German Cockroach, spot size of 3-4 mm in diameter is ideal and for the larger American cockroaches the spot size should be 6 mm in diameter. The difference in spot size is necessary to account for greater consumption of the gel by larger cockroaches. Knowing the level of cockroach infestation is very important because it influences the number of spots to be applied in cracks & crevices and other common cockroach harborages. For a good control 3 to 4 spots per sq. mtr is recommended. The area to be treated should be calculated on the basis of surface area of the site being treated and not on the basis of floor area.
