About the Author:-James Brierly was born in Yorkshire and died in 1955. He graduated from oxford University with first class degrees in Classics and Jurisprudence, was called to the Bar in 1907 and joined the army in 1914. He was later appointed Professor of Law at Manchester University in 1920, and then to the Chair of International Law at Oxford University in 1922 his tenure lasting 23 years.
