1. Prepare the Soil

Since Kalmi Saag is semi-aquatic, it thrives in swamp-like conditions. Loosen the soil and mix in plenty of organic compost or aged manure (cow dung). The goal is to create rich, fertile mud that holds water well. If growing in a pot, use a container with no drainage holes or keep a saucer filled with water underneath.

2. Sowing the Seeds

Soak : Soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours before planting to speed up germination.

Plant : Sow seeds about 0.5 inches deep.

Spacing : Space seeds 4–6 inches apart.

Water : Water immediately and keep the soil constantly wet (soggy). Germination usually occurs in 5–10 days.
