Bagh technique involves a elaborate process of printing and dyeing. The craftsmen, originally from Sindh, settled down in Bagh, Madhya Pradesh due to the iron and copper rich river Bhagini. The bagh fabric is known for its rich red (mixing alum and imli seeds) and black (paste of iron rust) colors. Teak wood is used for the blocks which are hand carved. After the printing and drying, the final product is washed in the river, as it's metal content helps bring out the finer colors and softens the fabric. Thereafter, it is bleached and dried resulting in the beautiful Bagh textile. The base fabric can be cotton, silk or cotton silk. Some of the traditional motifs used are Nandana-mango motif, Tendu-plant motif, Mung Ki Phali motif, Leheria motif and the Phool Buta motif. These block printed sarees are casual occasion winner
